About

The Barley Mow Brewing Company is a nano brewery and tavern located in the downtown shopping district of Largo, Florida. Located just north of St Petersburg and south of Clearwater, Largo is the third largest city in Pinellas County. Similar to it’s larger “micro brewery” counterpart, a nano brewery is a Federally licensed brewery, only on a smaller scale. Nano breweries are the fastest growing portion of the craft beer industry and have already begun producing award winning beers all over the country. They are a way for talented brewers to get involved in the industry at a professional level, without the expense of a full blown micro brewery start-up. The Barley Mow Brewing Company is a 2 Barrel (2 BBL) brew house. One U.S. barrel is equal to 31 gallons.  Just enough to keep beer flowing through our taps!

While we are a fully licensed package brewery, most of BMBC’s beer will find it’s home in our own taproom. Our small batch size allows us the freedom to keep a broad selection of beers on tap at all times.  We have 14 taps and rotate our beer in with other American craft brews, most of which are Florida born.  While we are no longer carrying liquor, we are still pouring both beer an wine! The taproom has a rustic feel that transports our guests back in time to an Old-World style tavern. Low lighting and dark woodwork encourages our guests to sit back, slow down, and relax during the day. While at night we’ll pick up the pace with lively entertainment on our 1200 sq/ft patio.

While we do not have a kitchen, we do carry bags of goldfish and popcorn.  Both are available for a dollar, but, if you’d prefer a meal, we have many awesome restaurants within walking distance or who deliver and you are more than welcome to bring in your dinner!  Ask us about our menu book!

Rounding out the BMBC experience is a friendly and knowledgeable staff made up of brewers and craft beer veterans. Some beer bars promote a “beer snob” culture that may leave some guests that might be new to craft beer feeling intimidated or less important. That will never be the case at the BMBC! We haven’t forgotten how new and exciting it was when we first got into the scene, and we love the fact that we’re continuing to learn as we go. That’s why we are the premiere destination for people to come to learn about, talk about, enjoy and even brew their own craft beer. That’s right, on Sundays, anyone is more than welcome to bring their own homebrew system and brew on our patio!  Or, if you’re interested in starting out, you can just enjoy a cold, local pint, observe and ask questions!  We also intend to honor our home brew club roots by offering discounts to local home brew clubs and encouraging them to host their monthly meetings at the BMBC.
